The nerves of the plexus run from the lumbosacral spine via the posterolateral pelvic walls to supply the lower back, pelvis, and lower limbs. Lumbosacral plexopathies are rare in patients who present to both primary care and the accident and emergency department. Presenting symptoms are often non-specific, such as lower back pain, sciatica, or pelvic pain, making diagnosis difficult (1).

Lumbosacral plexopathy is a rare clinical entity that results in potentially severe neurological deficit. The clinical presentation of lumbosacral plexopathy includes motor and sensory deficits. However to the best of our knowledge, hip instability secondary to lumbosacral plexopathy has not been reported in current literature. We report two cases of pelvic injury in which recurrent hip subluxa...

متن کاملPainful Lumbosacral Plexopathy
Patients frequently suffer from lumbosacral plexus disorder. When conducting a neurological examination, it is essential to assess the extent of muscle paresis, sensory disorder distribution, pain occurrence, and blocked spine. An electromyography (EMG) can confirm axonal lesions and their severity and extent, root affliction (including dorsal branches), and disorders of motor and sensory fiber...

OBJECTIVE To ascertain the etiology of non-traumatic plexopathy and clarify the clinical, electrophysiological characteristics according to its etiology. METHOD We performed a retrospective analysis of 63 non-traumatic plexopathy patients that had been diagnosed by nerve conduction studies (NCS) and needle electromyography (EMG). Clinical, electrophysiological, imaging findings were obtained ...
متن کاملSciatica caused by pseudomyxoma peritonei.
Many etiologies may cause sciatica, and intra-abdominal masses usually affect the lumbosacral plexus by local invasion or distal metastases. Lumbosacral plexopathy caused by compression of intra-abdominal tumors instead of invasion is rarely seen. A 67-year-old woman had a 3-month history of progressive neurogenic claudication, lumbago and left L5 radiculopathy with foot drop. Nocturia and prog...
